What is the ISM Resilient Futures Research Institute?
The ISM Resilient Futures Research Institute (RFRI) is a university-level research platform at ISM University of Management and Economics, launched in autumn 2026. It brings together faculty, doctoral students, and partners who study how people, organizations, and societies can thrive in times of geopolitical, economic, technological, and demographic change.
The Institute serves as ISM’s engine for research excellence and external funding. It enables its members to produce research that is internationally visible, methodologically rigorous, and socially relevant, and connects this research with business, policy makers, and the wider public.

At Resilient Futures, we aim to:
- Produce high-quality research: supporting publications, working papers, conference presentations, research collaboration, and international academic visibility.
- Win competitive external grants: building capacity to identify, develop, and win national, European, and international research funding.
- Strengthen research skills and culture: developing researchers’ methodological, writing, publishing, grant-writing, supervisory, and collaborative capacities at every career stage.
- Do research for business: expanding ISM’s collaboration with companies through joint research and research-based consulting, such as wargaming.
- Build reputation and impact: strengthening ISM’s profile as a research-active institution through international partnerships, public engagement, policy and practitioner relevance, and research communication.
Our research hubs
The Institute’s work is organized in research hubs: communities of researchers gathered around a shared challenge and societal needs.
