National research project
In progress

Project no.: S-PD-25-32
Project funding: Research Council of Lithuania, Postdoctoral Fellowships
Principal investigator: Julija Vaitonytė
Supervisor: Vita Akstinaitė
Project description:
This project will investigate the social impact of Large Language Models (LLMs) on human behavior. Over the past three years, LLMs have grown in popularity. For instance, an increasing number of people, including young adults, are relying on LLMs not only for professional and/or educational purposes but also for making life decisions and as a source of emotional support. Despite the increasing adoption of LLMs, there remains a considerable gap in scientific knowledge regarding their influence on human behavior and decision-making processes. This project will examine these aspects and develop a novel psychometric tool that will permit understanding how people’s characteristics and attitudes interact with the acceptance or rejection of information presented by LLMs. The project’s findings will be of relevance to both technologists and social scientists and will also contribute to the broader discussion on the role of AI and LLMs in society.
