The Influence of Companies’ Environmental Sustainability Measures on Employees’ Individual Sustainable Behavior
National research project
In progress
Project no.: S-PD-24-68
Project funding: Research Council of Lithuania, Postdoctoral Fellowships
Project description:
Transitioning towards a sustainable society requires change on all levels, including policymakers, companies, and individual citizens. Prior research has looked at these elements separated from each other. However, there is growing evidence that individual’s sustainable behavior at work and in their private lives are interdependently related. Majority of scientific studies focus on the effect personal sustainability mindset has on ones’ behavior at work. However, we argue that we need to look at both sides of the coin and investigate how company’s sustainable practices affect ones’ sustainable behavior at home. The project focuses on two research questions, i.e., RQ1: How do companies’ environmental sustainability measures and their application at work influence employees’ personal behavior at home? and RQ2: What environmental sustainability measures practiced in the company are the most effective in developing sustainable mindset in society?
