Project title: Using deep learning to detect leadership ability at-a-distance
The aim of the project: Increase the research competence of dr. Vita Akstinaitė in conducting high-level research. The aim of the project is to develop a bias-free, automatic tool to infer leadership capability, including charisma, IQ, and personality at-a-distance.
Expected results: There are several expected results of this research project. First, the study will have a significant direct contribution to psychology and management theories. Second, the project will have a significant practical contribution to assessment, selection, and promotion processes. In particular, the study will provide important recommendations for organizations in Lithuania and other countries on reducing bias and improving hiring practices by applying novel, at-a-distance assessment techniques. Thirdly, the post-doctoral fellow Vita’s research competence will increase significantly through the research training completed at UNIL and mentoring received as part of this project. Moreover, the funding will enable her to conduct cutting edge research in Lithuania. Finally, besides developing as a researcher, the experience gained during the project would allow Vita to help other scholars develop through knowledge sharing, teaching, consultations, future Master, and PhD student supervision.
