Prof. Dr. Alfredas Chmieliauskas

Prof. dr. Alfredas Chmieliauskas, who completed his studies in mathematics at Vilnius University (1978), obtained a doctoral degree in the field of computer systems and networks at the Latvian Academy of Sciences in Riga (1989). He also completed the Master of Public Administration and Politics program at Hamline University, Saint Paul, Minnesota, USA (1994). Alfredas Chmieliauskas is one of the founders of ISM University of Management and Economics (1999) and served as rector (2014-2018). Currently, at ISM, he teaches bachelor’s, master’s, and executive education programs. His teaching areas include project, program, and portfolio management, innovation, and change management. In addition to teaching at ISM and other universities in Lithuania, he delivers lectures in European countries and the USA. Alfredas Chmieliauskas is one of the founders (2004) and served as president (2004-2015) of the Lithuanian Project Management Association. He holds an International Project Management Association (IPMA) Level A certification and is an accredited IPMA assessor. As a consultant and owner of a project management consulting company, he has provided training and consulting services to more than 250 business and public sector organizations. He is currently also a board member of the Strategic Analysis Center of the Government of Lithuania (STRATA). In recent years, Alfredas Chmieliauskas’s research interests have focused on various aspects of project work organizations. Along with colleagues, he received the ISM Researcher of the Year team award (2018) for publications in high-ranking international journals. He participated in a large-scale international research project led by Prof. Ralf Muller from BI Norwegian Business School. This project won the IPMA Award for the analysis of balanced leadership phenomenon in projects (2019).
