galque@faculty.ism.ltGoogle ScholarI am a researcher, lecturer and consultant. My expertise and my passion are statistics and more particularly the study of causality (causal inference / econometrics).I use my expertise in statistics to provide practical tools for a wide audience to better use and question statistics, and even improve critical thinking (see my TedX: „How to question numbers and prevent manipulation”). I call this method „The Causal Mindset” (www.thecausalmindset.com). In a world dominated by data, it is essential to know how to interpret statistics in order to avoid costly errors. I currently focus my teaching on the definition, measurement and interpretation of key performance indicators.Over the past ten years, I have taught more than 10,000 students, ranging from economics students to managers, including in vivo medical researchers (research on live animals). In addition to teaching, I regularly give lectures, seminars and keynotes on statistics, causal inference and econometrics, and post several times a week on LinkedIn or write articles on the Towards website. My research has been published in leading journals (PNAS, Management Science, Environmental Research Letters, Journal of Development Economics) and aims to address current challenges of importance to society, ranging from the effect of sending weapons to Africa on the risk of conflict to the effect of COVID lockdowns on the spread of the virus.
